This is the closest I've found, but despite the headline being "Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini sets his sights on Arsenal and third place" the closest he come to actually saying we'll finish third is...

Quote from: Mancini
"I am confident when I have all of the squad available we can win at home and win away. You must remember that we have two games in hand. If we win both of these games, we will be just two points behind Arsenal.

"I think Tottenham, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Arsenal are all fighting for two places in the Champions League. When I have all the players back, we will be better. We have to be really confident."

More press bullshit me thinks

If we can win this evening and our games in hand and hopefully the arse will drop points then I dont see why 3rd place is not achieveable.

but still if we do win our games we could finish 3rd so he is correct

if we win or games one will be against Arsenal, Pool and Spuds so we would finish above them

I heard somewhere that he was very friendly with a group of witch doctors from africa and that he is going to get a curse put on our rivals for 4 th place.I suppose we will just have to wait to see all manner of calamities unfold on our rivals.
Time will tell.

If we had got 3 points at the weekend or even a draw where everyone put in a decent shift I may agree with ye that 3rd is feasible but no way based on recent preformances.

Is it more to do if either Liverpool or Everton win the Europa league they get the fourth Chumps league spot, never minding that they finish outside the top four. So you would have to finish third in the league to guarantee a place in next years chumps league.
